1.  What do you help men with?

I help men overcome struggles with pornography, masturbation, and other sexually addictive behaviors.  I help men understand what drives them to act out sexually, and help them replace unhealthy sexual behaviors with God-honoring, life-giving healthy ones.

2.  Why are you doing this?

I struggled with sexual addiction for over a decade, and eventually was able to obtain and maintain sobriety for the past 8 years.  During this time I’ve helped other men reach sobriety, and I love seeing men find joy and freedom as they recover.  I want other men to experience the joy, freedom, and hope that living a life of sobriety can offer.  Read my full story here.

3.  Why should I work with you vs. a licensed counselor aka what makes you qualified to do this?

I have worked with hundreds of men over the past 14 years in my job with the Navigators collegiate ministry.  I have discipled men, led bible studies, and led sexual addiction recovery groups.  In this time I’ve achieved my own sobriety, and have successfully helped others do the same.  Because of the hard earned wisdom of being an addict and recovering myself, combined with my years of experience mentoring men, knowledge of the Bible, and successfully helping other men overcome sexual addiction, I feel confident in my ability to help other men do the same.  I have taken an in-depth mentoring training course through the organization Bravehearts (https://bravehearts.org/), and have received extensive counseling in my own life.  Mentoring is not professional counseling/therapy, and is not intended to be a replacement for it.  Rather, in this scenario, it is coming alongside someone struggling with sexual addiction and using one’s personal experience in this area to coach them in how to find freedom.  Much like a sherpa guiding  someone safely up and down a treacherous mountain, a mentor uses their personal experiences and success in “climbing the mountain themselves” to help the mentee.

Ken speaks at men's retreats as well as one off events about how men can live lives of sexual integrity.  Ken seeks to both inform and interact with the audience and to provide foundational knowledge as well as actionable next steps.

Ken addresses multiple topics, including:  How to cultivate healthy, vulnerable, authentic relationships with other men, taking extreme measures to remove sin from one’s life, processing emotions to discover the deeper issues beneathe the surface driving the unwanted sexual behavior, and teaching men how to let the gospel penetrate their hearts.  Audience members will also leave with practical tools for fighting agianst unwanted sexual behavior, and will have time to take what they've learned to create their own personalized battle plan.

5.  What if I’m unhappy with your services?

See above for details about the cancelation policy for each specific group.  I understand that not every pairing of mentee/mentor is the right fit, and sometimes people do need to seek counseling to uncover deeper issues/trama.  If this is the case, I will be the first to encourage the client to stop meeting with me, and will help them connect with a good licensed counselor.  In terms of cancelation and refunds, I want to let clients get a feel for what the group/mentoring is like before committing to paying.  At the same time, I want clients to feel the weight of their commitment, and having the ability to cancel at any time diminishes the level of buy in.  Again, see above for specifics, but in general clients may cancel after the first 2 meetings for a full refund for closed group mentoring and the open zoom accountability group, and after 4 meetings for one-on-one mentoring.

6.  Anything else I should know?

I love working with men, and I have loved helping men in my life find freedom from sexual addiction.  At one point in my life I had given up hope of ever being free, but God has been so gracious and helped me find freedom, and it has improved every area of my life.  Too many men feel trapped, as I did, and fear they will never be free.  Many don’t know who to talk to or what to do next.  I feel confident that if you are willing to be open, work hard, and work the program, you too can be free.  I would absolutely love to get to know you, hear your story, and help you in your journey.

References From Mentees:

  1. Ken has a true gift for helping men follow Jesus on a personal and intimate level. He has lovingly walked by my side in my journey towards sexual purity for the past couple years, and his advice and mentorship has had life changing, freeing impacts. Ken’s responses to sin confession always point me straight towards God’s never-failing love, and he has a great understanding of when to push harder against habits in my life that lead to sexual temptation / sin. I am so appreciative of how he leans into difficult conversations by sharing deeply about his past and present experiences and invites anyone to share openly. I have been incredibly blessed to have such a wise, committed, and simultaneously hilarious person to help me grow in purity!”

  1. “Ken Anderson has been an amazing influence in my life. He has helped guide me through struggles with purity and with my spiritual walk in general, aware that it is not him doing the work, but God working through him. Ken’s gentleness and willingness to speak the truth, even when it is hard to hear, made him an amazing accountability partner and friend to me. Ken’s own experience also makes him very relatable. He was like a battle-proven soldier coming alongside me in the war for purity. First and foremost Ken is a devout follower of Christ, and I believe God is working through his life to show many lost and stagnant people the hope and forgiveness that is found in Christ Jesus.”

3.  'Ken really helped me understand both my emotional state that was undergirding my addiction to pornography and the habits that were making it harder to find lasting freedom. I've discovered a ton about myself through his mentorship, and I've been able to establish habits and practices that have led to lasting change.
I think this kind of mentoring is vital to anyone who struggles with purity. It always takes an outside source to give you the tools necessary to overcome addiction, and Ken is an amazing person to do that. He has a great understanding of how our emotions can be at the root of our addictions, and how our bad habits can feed them. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to work through these issues with Ken!'

References from Men's Retreat Attendees:

'Ken did an awesome job this weekend. No surprise that it’s a tough topic, and I was nervous that it was going to be either too shallow to be effective or too awkward to tolerate, since either of those suboptimal outcomes would be so much easier to produce than the stellar job Ken did. Really great work! And, I believe, impactful.'
